Lake Geroldsee rests quietly in the light of the beginning evening, as if time itself had held its breath for a moment. The last rays of sunlight glide gently over the peaks of the Karwendel mountains, which shine in a soft pink colour. The massif rises like a protective wall behind the dark forests, while the gently rolling meadows with scattered alpine huts spread out in front of it - a picture of deepest Bavarian homeland solidarity.
The photo captures one of those rare moods in which nature and light merge into a work of art. The reflection of the sky in the lake, the calm surface of the water, the golden clouds and the lush green hills create a harmonious landscape painting that has an effect far beyond the visual. It is a picture for longing, dreamers, hikers and lovers of alpine tranquillity.
This picture was taken in the early summer evening above Krün near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, with a view of the Wetterstein mountains and the Karwendel massif. Lake Geroldsee - often referred to as Wagenbrüchsee - is known for its magical light moods and is considered one of the most photogenic places in the Bavarian Alps.
