About ‘Eemklooster’ by Jeroen de Jongh Photography

The monastery was built in 1932 and designed by the architect B.J. Koldewey, in collaboration with W.C.A. Kroese. The monastery complex consisted of three parts: a boarding school for girls, the Lyceum "Onze Lieve Vrouw ter Eem" and the nursery school "Sint-Agnes". In total, the Eem Monastery provided accommodation for about 500 sisters and girls. The sisters belonged to the Sisters of Our Lady of Amersfoort, a congregation founded in 1822 which was concerned with teaching and the Catholic faith.

The pupils of the boarding school Our Lady of Eem stayed in so-called sister-chambrettes. The Eem Monastery has many important events. Pope John Paul II, for example, stayed in the convent of Our Lady of Eem during his visit to the Netherlands in 1985. The meetings of the Dutch Bishops' Conference were also held here from 1984 to 1998. Finally, the last sisters left in 2008.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
