Vlietland, popularly known as the Vlietlanden, is a recreation area in South Holland. It belongs to the northern territory of the municipality of Leidschendam-Voorburg, not far from Stompwijk and Voorschoten and is wedged between the Vliet and the A4 motorway. In the northeast, the Leidse Oostvlietpolder forms the border.
The recreational area was created as a result of sand extraction, which was started in 1968 and ended in 2001. To remove sand, there were polders with meadows, such as -from west to east- the Meeslouwerpolder, the Rietpolder, the Spekpolder and the Hofpolder.
