This breakwater is located on the coast at Domburg and is a typical form of coastal defense in the Dutch province of Zeeland and is called "Paalhoofden".
Most of them consist of long double row wooden posts that are up to 14 meters in the ground.
Due to the strong currents on the Zeeland coast, a stone breakwater would be counterproductive. If the water flows through the poles, the tide is curbed, but the sand is not washed away.
