Dam Square Amsterdam.
The Dam is a square in the centre of Amsterdam. It is the historical heart of the city and the location of many events of national significance. The Royal Palace, the New Church and the National Monument, where the annual National Remembrance Day service is held, are located on and around Dam Square.
Several prominent buildings line the square. On the west side is the Palace on Dam Square, which originally served as a town hall (inaugurated in 1655), but has been a royal palace since 1808. Furthermore, the New Church, wax museum Madame Tussaud and, since 2016, Ripley's Believe It or Not! are located at the Dam.
