The Dalmatian (also called Dalmatian dog), is a dog known for its white coat with black dots. It originates from the Croatian coastal region of Dalmatia. However, its name is derived from dalmatica, the Roman king's coat made of ermine. Since the early 18th century, the breed has developed among the nobility mainly in England, where the breed standard was set up in 1882.
