About "Crane house in Cologne"

by Walter G. Allgöwer

About the artwork

In the middle of the vibrant city on the banks of the majestic Rhine, the Kranhaus in Rheinauhafen harbour rises up to form a symphony of architecture and urbanity. A monumental testimony to modern elegance and industrial sophistication, it rises up proudly as if it were a witness to times gone by and dreams of the future.
The gaze lingers in the shadow of its steel structure, captivated by the intertwining lines that strive upwards. The Kranhaus, a landmark of the city of Cologne, catches the sun's rays and dances with the clear blue of the sky. Like artistic brushstrokes on a canvas, the gentle contours of the building merge with the endless expanse of the firmament.
Viewed from below, the effect is intensified: the viewer is overcome by a feeling of grandeur as he stretches his neck to take in the height of the Kranhaus. The radiant sun casts a golden glow on the gleaming metal, and clouds drift leisurely by as if absorbing the history of the place.
The steel sculpture, a poem of architecture and sky, symbolises Cologne's emergence into modernity, firmly anchored in the legacy of its industrial past. At this moment, between the earth and the firmament, the Kranhaus becomes a poetic declaration of the connection between past, present and future.
