The coot (Fulica atra) belongs to the family of coots, coots and moorhens (Rallidae) and the genus coot (Fulica). The bird measures 32 to 42 centimeters and weighs 585 to 1100 grams. The feathers are completely black, the beak and forehead shield are white and the eyes are red. The coot has large blue-green legs with spread lobes. Both sexes have the same appearance.
