About ‘Column gallery at the Messe in Berlin’ by Jenco van Zalk

Colonnade at the Messe trade fair building in Berlin with clean lines and constructed of rough concrete with shades of colour.
Built in the 1930s and although the term "Brutalism" is not used as a term for the large geometric shapes, massive concrete structures and a functional, "rough" look until later in the 1950s, this building is a forerunner and also has characteristics to match. You will also find this style in other buildings in Berlin such as Tempelhof airport, Olympic stadium and the current Ministry of Finance.
