Cologne Cathedral after sunset. Cologne Cathedral (Dom St. Peter und Maria) is a Gothic cathedral in the center of the German city of Cologne and is the largest cathedral in Germany. Its construction began in 1248 and was not completed until 1824.
The Cathedral and the bridge are lit less because of the energy crisis in 2022, this provides a unique picture combined with the movement of the clouds. The clouds give an exciting atmosphere with the feeling of impending severe weather. Can we walk another round or should we take shelter?
The bridge in the foreground is full of so-called love locks, which are small padlocks with the names of loved ones engraved on them. By hanging this padlock on the bridge and throwing away the key, couples seal their love for each other. Could the Rhine in the foreground be full of keys?
When I get home from the office I like to take my camera out after dinner to photograph the night. This can be a normal night picture, but also a lightpaint picture.
Typical for my photos is the use of color, light and the starburst effect.
