About ‘Celebration of Diffraction’ by Elke Stangl (elkement)
Combining it all - and celebrating it all: Physics, math, engineering, and code! A collage of code-generated art (no AI!) with a digital drawing - both showing diffraction curves mounted on circles. As if light diffracted by a double slit in the center of the structure would be captured on cylindrical screens.

Elke Stangl (elkement) is an Austrian physics PhD working as an engineer. Her mathematical art is borne out of her life-long passion for the theoretical underpinnings of her craft. She is creating virtual three-dimensional structures from mathematical functions – digitally with code or with ruler and compass, using traditional techniques of descriptive geometry.
Her initial inspiration was Sir Roger Penrose’s book The Road to Reality, the hand-crafted drawings…
