Callisto or Kallisto, in Greek mythology, is the daughter of King Lycaon of Arcadia, from Nonacris. Her name is derived from καλλίστη, kallístê ("most beautiful"), the superlative of beautiful.
Callisto was one of the nymphs of Artemis, whose companion she was. Once when she rested from hunting in a forest, she lost her virginity to Zeus, who disguised himself as Artemis and raped her.
Zeus is a figure in Greek mythology. He is the chief god, who ruled from Mount Olympus. The equivalent of Zeus in Roman religion is Jupiter.
