While travelling through Bhutan, I visited a monastery in the town of Trongsa. This gigantic monastery called Trongsa Dzong is still inhabited by Buddhist monks like the boys in the picture in their beautiful red robes in the courtyard of this former fort. First developed as a simple temple in 1543, this structure has continued to expand over the centuries to become Bhutan's largest fort. Walking through the fort, you imagine yourself back in time because of the ancient architectural style, monks in their traditional red robes and the sound of mantras in the background.
