The beautiful Brouwersdam where many German tourists come and where many water sports enthusiasts like to attend. Does this landscape photo have a beautiful sunset during the spring period in the Netherlands.
The Brouwersdam is the seventh structure of the Delta Works. Located in the Dutch provinces of South Holland and Zeeland, the Brouwers Dam closes the Brouwershavense Gat. This closure of this estuary created Lake Grevelingen.
As early as 1965, the Grevelingendam between Goeree-Overflakkee and Schouwen-Duiveland had been completed. The Grevelingen lake south of Goeree-Overflakkee was still connected to the North Sea. Storm surges could therefore rise higher here, which is why the dykes on the south side of the island were raised in 1965. To shorten the period of higher tides, construction of the Brouwers Dam started immediately after the closure of the Grevelingendam. After more than six years, in the spring of 1971, this dam was closed. Some very high water levels occurred between 1964 and 1971. In November 1966, the water here remained only a few centimetres below the level of 1 February 1953.
