The car is surprisingly manoeuvrable, very fast, desirably spacious, really economical and has an unsurpassable road-holding. In a word: Whoever owns it, the Borgward "Hansa 1500", is a lucky man. Because after the war it was always about material allocations and these were very scarce at the beginning. Therefore Borgward divided his company in 1949 into three companies to get a better allocation, which were: ... Carl F. W. Borgward G. m. b. H. Automobil- und Motoren-Werke, main factory in Bremen-Sebaldsbrück ... Goliath-Werk G. m. b. H., plant in Bremen-Hastedt with, among others, the Goliath Goli ... Lloyd Maschinenfabrik G. m. b. H. with the later model Lloyd 300, Lloyd Alexander and Lloyd Arabella. In the end, only 33,841 examples of all Hansa 1500/1800 models were produced, but who had the money for an automobile at that time? And at that time there were far more motorbikes, lorries and tractors in general road traffic and many a company was still making cooking pots out of steel helmets.
