About ‘Berlin’ by Jeroen Quirijns

Berlin is a city of many faces and an indelible history, shaped above all by the aftermath of the Second World War, which saw the city divided into East and West: communism versus democracy and the free-market economy.
At the age of 18, I visited Berlin with my secondary school classmates; back then, you had the choice to travel to various cities in Europe as part of a cultural education programme. My father had already suggested: ‘ "Ooit gaat de muur vallen dus ga maar naar Berlijn dat is een ervaring die nooit meer tegen gaat komen als de muur valt" ’ and the rest is history. A green city with a grey rim around it; you can still feel the downfall of the Nazi's als een deken over de stad hangen, zal ongetwijfeld aan mij liggen, want ik ben met de 2de wereld oorlog "opgevoed" and it still holds my interest. It is also the city of David Bowie. Berlin and Bowie: they have been important to each other. It is that divided city that was part of the Thin White Duke for two years (1976–1978). Together with Iggy Pop, Bowie lived at Hauptstraße 155 in Schöneberg; that period has undoubtedly left its mark on Bowie’s work. A colourful piece that works well against a dark background.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
