Behind the story – a labyrinth into the unknown

by AidasignArt

A mysterious world of mountains, ancient temples and winding staircases unfolds in this sculptural relief. The female buttocks form the unusual starting point for an imaginary landscape in which nature and architecture merge into a surreal composition.

On the left-hand side, layered rock formations wind their way through a labyrinth of flowing lines. Opposite, an ancient temple complex rises up, featuring columns, steps and geometrically arranged structures. Above it, a deep-blue staircase seems to lead into another dimension. The organic forms of the body and the austere lines of the architecture create a captivating contrast between movement and order.

Ivory, stony greys, dark mineral blue and warm copper tones lend the work the character of an archaeological discovery. The relief-like design enhances the spatial depth and makes the fantastical scene appear like a miniature world carved out of the rock.

The work is part of the series ‘The Middle of Nowhere – In the middle of nowhere’. And in case anyone is wondering where these stairs lead: there are probably neither signposts nor a sensible way back up there. But that is precisely what makes this artistic expedition so appealing.

Whether viewed as a standalone image, as a diptych, or together with the two related motifs as a complete triptych, this relief constantly opens up new avenues for the imagination.
