The Athabasca is a river in Alberta, Canada. The source of the river is located in the Jasper National Park in the Rocky Mountains and the outlet takes place in the Athabasca lake. The length of the Athabasca is about 1230 km.
The Athabasca was important for the trade in furs and the construction of roads and railways in the as yet unexplored west of Canada around the 19th and early 20th centuries.
