The Fanal forest on the Portuguese island of Madeira. A forest consisting of laurel trees that are often spaced far apart. Some of the trees are ancient and they thrive in the often humid conditions on this part of the island.
Ideal situation for photographing in this place is fog. Then the winding laurel trees come out best. And fog I had enough degree. So much myself that I almost got lost in the dense fog.
And then I came across this beautiful tree. Or what was left of it. Slowly the fog lifted a little and allowed enough light to capture this beautiful shape, with another one of those winding laurel trees in the misty background.
The beautiful muted colours give this photo its calm character.
