Effects of Sun on Water is a painting created by French painter André Derain around 1906 in London, UK. This oil on canvas is a yellow-brown landscape representing the reflections on a body of water from a setting sun penetrating the clouds. The work recalls the work of Joseph Mallord William Turner and then Claude Monet overlooking the Thames and is kept at the Annonciade museum in Saint-Tropez.
André Derain (Chatou, France, 10 June 1880 - Garches, 8 September 1954) was a French painter and sculptor, who was also active as a jewellery designer. The artist was friends with Matisse and De Vlaminck, and together the painters are considered the founders of fauvism.
