The Amsterdamse Bos (originally: the 'Boschplan') is a forest constructed between 1934 and 1970 in the southwest of Amsterdam, between the Ringvaart (near Schiphol) and Amstelveen. The Amsterdamse Bos of 935 hectares lies almost entirely within the municipality of Amstelveen (the border runs along and north of the Bosbaan). The part south of the A9 motorway was in the municipality of Aalsmeer until 2002, but the municipal boundary between Amstelveen and Aalsmeer has since been established by the Bosrandweg. The municipality of Amsterdam is the owner and manager of the forest.
