About "Abandoned industrial building in Poland"

by Silva Wischeropp

About the artwork

I discovered this run-down, dilapidated and abandoned industrial building not far from the "Polish market", just a few kilometres from Hohenwutzen on the Polish border.

Hohenwutzen is a village on the so-called island of Neuenhagen in the district of Märkisch-Oderland. Since its incorporation in 2003, Hohenwutzen has been a district of Bad Freienwalde (Oder).
Together with the villages of Altglietzen, Bralitz, Neuenhagen and Schiffmühle, Hohenwutzen is located on the island of Neuenhagen in the north of the Oderbruch. Hohenwutzen is located on the federal road 158a and is the border crossing to Poland.
The neighbouring Polish village, separated by the Oder-Neisse border, is Osinów Dolny (German: Niederwutzen).
Neuglietzen, located to the south of the village, has grown together with Hohenwutzen. Hohenwutzen was on the Freienwalde-Zehden railway line.

A truly ugly concrete block which, despite everything, has a very mystical aura.
The perfect location for a thriller or the set of a horror film.
The photo was taken in the afternoon hours with the D800 camera (lens: NIKKOR 20.0 mm f/2.8) on 27 August 2021. NIKON D800
