A shower of colours on glass

by Marlot Grouve

This work captures a moment in which nature and colour come together in an almost magical way. Tiny droplets of condensation cover the entire surface, each with its own shape and sheen. They appear to be scattered at random, yet together they form a rhythmic pattern that the eye cannot help but follow. Behind the glass, an intense colour gradient unfolds: cool blue at the top, which slowly transitions into fresh yellow and green, eventually ending in warm red. The droplets subtly refract the light, making some colours appear brighter whilst softening others. Those who look longer will notice small details: a droplet that is just slightly larger than the rest, a cluster forming an almost organic structure, and the way the light creates its own miniature world within each droplet.

The inspiration for this work comes from the interplay of light and water that you sometimes see on a rainy morning — when the world outside the window fades, yet the colours seem all the more intense. It is an ode to those moments when you pause for a moment and notice just how beautiful something small can be. The atmosphere is fresh, lively and yet soothing, as if the work invites you to breathe more deeply and slow down for a moment. At a maximum size of 55 × 80 cm, both the droplet structure and the colour gradient are beautifully showcased. The work brings energy, colour and refinement to any interior.
