"A half bulb of a ball thistle (Echinops)" is a macro photo of (slightly more than) a half bulb of a ball thistle. A ball thistle (Echinops) is a species of thistle in which the flower has a spherical shape. If you zoom in on the work, you can also see that this bulb is made up of lots of small flowers that, in this photo, are about to open. This creates a calm image where the little flowers almost look like rays. When making this photo, I chose a shallow depth of field to create depth in the work.
Like the dandelion and Tragopogon, the Bull Thistle belongs to the Composite family (Asteraceae). When the flower has finished flowering, fuzz forms, to which the seeds are attached. In this way, the seeds are dispersed by the wind.
This work could hang beautifully on the wall as wall decoration in an office, waiting room or meeting room. But of course also at home above the sofa in the living room or in the bedroom!
