A bloody winter – a Christmassy relief

by AidasignArt

Where does this path lead? To a hidden mountain world, to a mysterious winter village, or perhaps simply to where the ordinary map ends? This extraordinary relief artwork invites you to lose yourself in a surreal winter landscape. Snow-capped mountain peaks rise above deep valleys, whilst winding paths meander through snow-covered forests and past small, fairy-tale-like settlements. In the centre of the picture, a star-studded night sky opens up, its deep blue forming a fascinating contrast to the bright layers of ice and snow.

The sculptural relief lines lend the landscape a distinct three-dimensional quality. Ivory, ice blue, dark slate grey and intense shades of red and green are interlaced with fine golden lines. The result is a multi-layered composition reminiscent of artfully sculpted mountain formations, revealing ever-new details upon closer inspection.

Part of the series ‘The Middle of Nowhere – In the middle of nowhere’, this work combines fantastical landscape art with a touch of self-irony. After all, not every path has to lead somewhere – sometimes it’s quite enough simply to stray from the beaten track in a particularly artistic way.

The motif is just as expressive as a single image as it is when paired with a second work to form a diptych, or with all three landscapes to create a triptych. Its wintry visual language makes it an extraordinary eye-catcher for the entire winter season, quite apart from the Advent calendar.
