This year it was once again time for the 10th edition of SAIL Amsterdam.
The event organised every five years was visited by more than 2 million people over five days.
On 20 August, Amsterdam's IJhaven once again filled up with dozens of tallships and thousands of other boats. Among other things, the boats were welcomed with the colours of the ship's country as they entered the harbour.
Especially the so-called Tallships were very popular among the more than 2 million visitors.
On Sunday, Aug 24, the harbour again emptied with a sail out.
2025 was also Amsterdam's 750th anniversary year. So the celebration of SAIL and the city came together nicely. SAIL was gifted to Amsterdam 50 years ago as a maritime festival to celebrate 700 years of Amsterdam.
SAIL has thus grown into one of the largest free events in the Netherlands.
