Looking at the light
To put into words what you see in Rob's paintings is not the first thing that comes to mind. You look, see, feel and are overwhelmed by so much beauty. Of course that beauty is already present in all the different landscapes around Bergen, but Rob's fascination with depicting and shaping it is remarkable. The longer you look, the more you are fascinated by his personal way of capturing it on canvas with a brush. Each painting has its own individuality and whether or not you recognise all those places in the woods, grassland, dunes and by the sea is less important. Rob's play with colour, line, space, wind and silence is already special enough.
In his paintings you can hardly discover a human being or you should be one yourself, disappearing in one landscape or another. Throughout the seasons you are a walker in his work, sometimes stand still, look around you or stare at the sky, which is constantly changing and feel what actually can not be said, only to be seen, keeps you busy and moved.
