About Zandkorrel Fotografie - Mariëlle Verhoef - van Lier
I took my first photograph when I was seven, using my parents’ camera, whilst on holiday in Portugal. My parents were the models. And sure enough, they were in the frame from head to toe in one go! That was probably the moment I caught the photography bug, and it’s never left me. I photograph everything under the sun, at home, but especially when travelling. My motto is a line from a poem by William Blake: ‘to see the world in a grain of sand’; I see the grandeur in the little things. That’s why my website is called Zandkorrel.
I earn my living as a researcher in the field of learning and development at Arnhem Nijmegen University of Applied Sciences (HAN). I studied psychology in Nijmegen and live with my husband and cat in Arnhem.
