On the edge of the IJsselmeer, where land, sea and sky meet, lie silent witnesses of a bygone era. This landscape photograph, taken near Den Oever on the Wadden Sea, shows the impressive interplay between nature and the remnant of human construction. The threatening sky dominates the deserted coastal landscape, where heavy basalt blocks and a weathered concrete water work battle the rising tide.
