About ‘Terre Rouge’ by Richard Driessen

Terre Rouge in Luxembourg - especially the area around Belval - is one of those places where industrial heritage architecture and modern urban design intersect powerfully. What you see in most pictures of Terre Rouge can be summed up as follows:

1. The landscape itself
A deep red, almost rusty hilly landscape created by ferruginous soil. That colour is so distinctive that you can see almost immediately: this is the Minette region. The hills have a rough, tough texture - perfect for contrast photography.

2. Industrial relics
You often see the imposing remains of Belval's former blast furnaces: huge steel structures, pipes, platforms and shafts. Everything looks raw, massive and monumental, but at the same time beautifully restored and subtly lit.

3. Modern architecture all around
In many images, the new university buildings, tall towers and Belval square contrast with the industrial heritage. Glass, steel and clean lines juxtaposed against old red-brown structures - a dream setting for real estate and architectural photography.

4. Light and atmosphere
In the evening, the blast furnaces are often given a warm amber exposure, making the red ground and steel stand out. During the day, on the other hand, you have that soft, almost cinematic haze that makes the red landscape even fuller.

5. Composition
Many photos play with depth: the terrils (the red hills) in front, the blast furnaces behind them and the skyline of modern Belval at the very back. Horizontal layers, strong leading lines and lots of structure.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
