In 2017, a hundred years of De Stijl was celebrated. De Stijl is an art movement with bright primary colours and straight lines. As part of the centenary, enormous red and blue Rietveld chairs were placed in various places in Utrecht. The chair on the City Plateau in Utrecht, between the City Office and Utrecht CS, has now been removed, in contrast to, for example, the chair on the City Hall Bridge. I think that's a pity, because an art movement with the Utrecht stamp after all (Gerrit Rietveld was an Utrecht funnel) should by definition always be immediately visible to the train passengers. Unfortunately, the chair is now gone (at the time of writing it is 17 March 2018) and I would argue a bit for it to be placed back as a recognizable Utrecht icon.
