Myanmar. Anyone who thinks of Myanmar probably envisions golden pagodas, Buddha statues and valleys full of temples. Myanmar is a Buddhist country and for the Burmese people, religion is an important part of daily life. When travelling to Myanmar, it is useful to know some basics about Myanmar's culture and customs. With this, you can avoid discord or friction and deal with the people of Myanmar in a good way without hurting them. Although Myanmar has its own customs and habits, people are very flexible and manners are especially important for interacting well with locals. Myanmar society is characterised by 'ana', the sense of hesitation or evasion to avoid losing face.
