View of the Queen Juliana Bridge from the Scharloo district. The bridge with a spring of 500- and a navigation height 56 metres was opened in 1974. The bridge connects the district of Punda with Ottrabanda.
During construction, the bridge collapsed on 6 November 1967. A total of 15 workmen lost their lives, nine Curaçaoans and six European Dutch.
To this day, there are residents of WIllemstad who do not cross the bridge because it is said to be under a curse.
