About ‘Into the Void’ by Edwin Mooijaart

There is a spot near Wijhe that I return to time and again: the long beech avenue that takes on its most impressive form in the mist. On an early autumn morning I walked into this avenue with the camera on the tripod and mist slowly drifting across the ground. At the far end of the avenue a walker appeared, small and solitary in the great space the beeches create. I waited and pressed the shutter at the precise moment: the figure exactly on the central axis of the frame, small enough to emphasise the scale of the trees, but large enough to feel the human presence. The leaves on the ground indicate that it is autumn, but the beeches still carry most of their leaves, keeping the tunnel dense and cathedral-like. The mist fills the distance with a white light that has no depth, a void. Hence the title: Into the Void. It is simultaneously calming and faintly unreal, a passage towards something you cannot see. The figure in the distance is what gives the photograph its soul. This work looks beautiful in a living room, hallway or study with a warm, natural or industrial interior. The atmosphere of silence and depth suits those who wish to live consciously and calmly.

My photography is about light and atmosphere — that brief moment when a place reveals itself. I shoot landscapes, forests and cities, but only when the conditions make it worthwhile: a fiery sunrise, a glowing sunset, thick morning mist or the blue hour when sky and artificial light hold each other in perfect balance. Flat midday light with a cloudless sky is not for me — I'm chasing something magical, something fleeting.

That search takes me from Dutch polders…

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
