About ‘Gargoyle Cholerabrunnen’ by Stephan van Krimpen
Close-up of a gnome shaped gargoyle on the Cholerabrunnen fountain in Dresden.
It seems as if the burden of the fountain rests on his shoulders, like the earth on Atlas' shoulders.
Built to celebrate the fact that the city of Dresden was spared the cholera epidemic that ravaged the area between 1841 and 1841.
