The picture shows the Krämerbrücke in Erfurt at Christmas time - one of the most famous historic streets in Europe, festively decorated and bathed in atmospheric light. The cobbled alleyway is lined with traditional half-timbered houses, some of whose windows are illuminated. Strings of lights with star-shaped decorations stretch across the street like a glowing roof. The scene is deserted, which lends the picture a special calm and clarity. Along the fronts of the houses are planters that complement the streetscape.
The Krämerbrücke is a unique architectural feature: a completely built-up bridge with continuous use as residential and commercial space. Its history dates back to the 14th century and makes it a cultural centrepiece of Erfurt.
My inspiration was to capture the special atmosphere of the old town in the run-up to Christmas - a moment of stillness in which light, space and history interact. The composition thrives on the contrast between festive decoration and architectural permanence.
The picture conveys a feeling of urban security and seasonal tranquillity. In an interior, it acts as a stylish accent - ideal for rooms that are looking for a combination of tradition, light and design clarity.
