About ‘Citroën DS’ by Koeien van Klaas

This work by art rebel Klaas captures the timeless elegance of the iconic Citroën DS in a raw, graphic pop-art style. The recognisable lines of this classic car are reduced to powerful forms and stark contrasts, with red and black dominating against a minimalist background. The result is an image that feels both nostalgic and modern.

The DS, once a symbol of progress and innovation, takes on a new meaning here. By reducing it to planes and sharp contours, a tension arises between refinement and rebellion. The work exudes a street art mentality, in which perfection is let go of, creating space for expression and character.

Klaas deliberately plays with imperfection. The frayed edges and fragmentary details lend the image movement and energy, as if the car is not stationary but could drive out of the frame at any moment. The red bursts from the canvas and immediately grabs the eye, whilst the black provides depth and power.

This artwork is an ode to design, but also a statement. It shows how an icon can be taken out of its context and brought back to life in a contemporary visual language. Bold, graphic and unmistakably unique.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
