Like the Drei Zinnen, Cinque Torri is also known for its striking peaks in the Dolomites. Cinque Torri is a mountain group consisting of five peaks surrounded by a number of small rocks. At 2361 metres, the Torre Grande is the highest of the five.
Cinque Torri played an important role in World War I. The Dolomites played an important role in the war, a conflict between Italian and Austro-Hungarian troops was largely fought here. The Italian troops established their artillery headquarters here to prevent the Austrian attack. A defensive line was created at the foot of Cinque Torri. Its location and the surrounding mountains allowed all actions in the area to be monitored. Today, you can still visit a museum, hike through old trenches or walk a Via Ferrata.
