Buddha faces, Bayon Angkor Thom, Cambodia. Bayon is a Buddhist temple. Each tower has 4 faces looking in the 4 directions.
There are different assumptions about the meaning of the four faces. They are faces of Buddha (it is a Buddhist temple) or faces of Brahma (who indeed has 4 faces) or faces of Jayavarman VII (the patron/king) who looks at every wind direction of the country and thus shows his power over the country.
There are 54 towers with 4 faces. So a total of 216 faces.
This temple also has beautiful bas-reliefs.
