At Balcón de Femés in Lanzarote, I had a clear plan: I wanted to capture the streaks of light from passing cars with a long shutter speed. But what made the evening truly unforgettable was something I could not have planned.
The sky was heavily overcast and a German couple asked curiously what I was doing. I kept my plans simple - a little mystery is allowed - but quietly suspected that the Sahara sand in the sky might make for a spectacular sunset.
And then it happened: the clouds broke open and the sky exploded in an explosion of colours. The combination of the glowing horizon, the dramatic clouds and the streaks of light from the cars completed the picture. It was an evening where everything came together, and a memory I won't soon forget.
