Steppe or common zebra with young. As the name suggests, these animals make up the most common zebra species in Africa. Each zebra has a unique stripe pattern. As to the how and why of those stripes, scientists still disagree. Man has also never succeeded in taming the animal. This photo was taken in Etosha National Park, in the corner of Okaukuejo, one of the largest wildlife parks in southern Africa. The park has existed since 1907.
