The tranquil heart of the Allgäu

The Moorweiher lies still like an open eye in the landscape, a dark mirror that not only reflects the world but transforms it. The Oberstdorf mountain range rests in the clarity of the water – yet not as a mere reflection, but as a second, more secret reality. The peaks of the Oberallgäu rise there like memories from another time, shimmering, slightly ethereal, as if they had, for a moment, broken free from the earth’s gravity.
Among the grasses on the bank, a barely audible breath whispers. The moor speaks its own language, a mixture of dampness, resin and ancient silence. Every blade of grass, every yellow flower seems to carry a tiny light, a spark that blurs the boundary between day and dream.
Clouds drift across the pond like wandering thoughts, and their reflection in the water seems deeper, almost prophetic. Here, in the Allgäu, where Bavaria dons its wildest tenderness, time seems to pass more slowly. Perhaps it even comes to a complete standstill, to preserve the moment when nature and the soul touch.
The Moorweiher is not a place one merely sees. It is a place that sees you – and, for a moment, recognises you.
