The Golden Hall and White Eternity

Time stands still amidst golden walls and the warm glow of countless lights. At the heart of Wat Phra That Sorn Kaew, high above the mists of the Khao Kho Mountains, the white Buddha lies in perfect stillness. His form, gently cradled in the Parinirvana pose, seems to be neither dream nor reality, but a silent gateway between worlds.
Before him, two Thai women capture a moment. The smartphone becomes a mirror of the present, whilst behind them eternity watches over them. A subtle contradiction arises: here, the fleeting second of a selfie; there, the timeless memory of awakening. Yet perhaps it is no contradiction at all. Perhaps both are part of the same truth.
The reclining Buddha does not seem to be sleeping. He is listening. He hears the distant whisper of the mountains, the rustling of invisible winds and the thoughts of those who enter this place. His white countenance radiates a tranquillity that runs deeper than words.
In the golden glow of the temple, past and present merge. The camera lens seeks an image, yet the soul seeks something else: a moment of understanding, a breath of peace. And as the finger touches the shutter button, everything stands still for a heartbeat.
As if silence itself had raised its light and bestowed an invisible blessing upon this fleeting moment.
