Under the banner of the Dharma

In the quiet twilight of the temple, the golden Buddha rests like a heart of light.
His countenance radiates peace – serene, timeless, full of gentleness. The warm gold of his body seems not only to illuminate the darkness, but to transform it into silence. Behind him glows a deep red, as powerful as life itself, whilst the delicate ornaments and celestial beings surround the space like a silent prayer.
The Buddha’s hands form a gesture of teaching – as if he were still telling the world of compassion, insight and inner freedom. No words are needed. Everything speaks through posture, light and silence.
Flowers stand before the altar as a sign of transience: beautiful for a moment, then fading away like every breath. And yet it is precisely therein that their truth lies. Between candlelight and the glow of gold, an atmosphere emerges that does not seek to impress loudly, but touches quietly.
This photograph from Wat Phayap feels like a window into a place beyond the hustle and bustle.
A moment of tranquillity, captured between earth and eternity.
