Spring tranquillity at Lake Christlessee

On this clear spring’s day at Christlessee, the light seems as though it has just been born. The surface of the mountain lake lies still as an open eye, turquoise and transparent right down to the secret depths where the meltwater from the Oberstdorf mountains gathers. Every ray of sunshine that touches the water’s surface transforms into a gentle shimmer, as if the lake itself were breathing.
All around, the forests stand dense and watchful, spruce and beech trees climbing the slope until they give way to rocky heights. The Trettach Valley opens out widely, yet the lake remains a sheltered place, a small, precious haven of tranquillity in the heart of the Oberallgäu. Spring casts a delicate green over the shores, young and vibrant, and the air carries the scent of earth, resin and the first warm breeze of the year.
You can hear the murmur of a nearby stream, the distant call of a bird, and somewhere in the shade a fish moves, little more than a silvery thought.
Here, at Christlessee, time seems to gather itself, as if wishing to pause for a moment. Spring writes its first lines, and the mountains read along in silence.
