Puerto de la Cruz in the morning light

In the first light of morning, Playa María Jiménez lies still between the sea and the lava rocks. The waves roll gently onto the black shore, as if to gently awaken the new day. A warm golden glow spreads over the houses of Puerto de la Cruz, bathing the façades in soft colours – ochre, white, sky blue and faded pink. Everything still seems to be asleep, and yet every balcony, every wall and every window tells of life, wind and salt.
The sea carries the breath of the Atlantic. It rushes against the dark volcanic rocks, which have stood immovable against the tides for centuries. At this early hour, the coast seems like a quiet conversation between earth and water. Seagulls glide silently through the clear air, whilst the sun slowly climbs higher and drives the shadows from the alleyways.
Here, on the edge of Tenerife, time loses its haste. The morning possesses a quiet dignity that cannot be grasped – only felt. And for a brief moment, it seems as though the Atlantic itself pauses to admire the awakening.
