Prayer flags fluttering in the wind over the Allgäu

From the summit of the Geißalphorn, at 1,953 metres, a panorama unfolds that seems to speak out into the distance like a silent prayer. The prayer flags at the summit cross flutter in the wind, each colour a hint of hope, a wish mingling with the crisp mountain air. Their rustling is soft, yet it carries far – over the rugged rocks, across the green meadows, down to the Lower Gaisalp Lake, which lies deep below like a dark mirror.
The light dances across the water’s surface, refracting off the stones on the shore, and for a moment the lake seems like a hidden eye of the mountains, seeing everything and preserving all. Behind it rises the Entschenkopf, 2,043 metres high, a tranquil guardian of the Allgäu Alps, whose slopes shimmer in summer green and carry a barely audible echo in the wind.
Up here, in the Allgäu, in Bavaria, in this quiet corner of Europe, time seems to stretch out. Every breath becomes clearer, every thought lighter. The world lies far below, and yet one feels closer to it than ever before. It is a place where the soul takes the lead and the body slowly follows.
