In the golden silence

Above the tranquil expanse of Bangkok, the golden Buddha of Wat Paknam rises like a breath of light. In his lotus posture lies a serenity that transforms the noise of the city – as if the sound of the khlongs, the whisper of the boats and the distant clamour of the streets were to merge into a single, clear note of silence.
The gold of its surface captures the sky, reflecting clouds, wind and sunlight, and yet it seems to shine from another source: from that inner clarity taught by Luang Pu Sodh Candasaro, from the quiet centre of Dhammakaya meditation.
The richly decorated gable in the foreground appears like a gateway between worlds – a transition from the earthly to the timeless. Every line, every colour, every ornament bears the hallmark of a culture that does not separate the sacred from the everyday, but weaves it into daily life.
Thus the Buddha stands above the canals of Phasi Charoen, visible far above the rooftops, and yet deeply rooted in the spirit of the place. A guardian of stillness. A mirror of the inner path. A golden breath that reminds the city that peace is not far away, but begins within one’s own heart.
