About ‘Harley-Davidson WLA 1944’ by anne droogsma

Converted into a WLC, or civilian model, originally a military motorcycle from the Second World War. A timeless bike; it always runs and you often see them at special rallies for military vehicles or classic cars. In fine weather, you might also spot one of these on the open road.
Twin-cylinder side-valve, 750cc, foot-operated clutch and 3-speed manual gearbox. The Burger model features deep mudguards and 16-inch wheels.
This gives it a rugged look and set the tone for the later Touring models from Harley-Davidson. For the sidecar and service models fitted with the WL engine, the gearbox features a reverse gear.
During the Second World War, a large number of these motorcycles were also supplied to Russia; these too are being imported to the Netherlands in great numbers, where they are restored by enthusiasts and stripped of all manner of Lada parts. It is a special motorcycle to ride, but it does require your full attention.
