Between reflection and meditation

Inside Wihan Kaeo, the world seems to be made of light. Mirrors cover the walls and ceilings right up to the highest corners, multiplying every movement, every golden glimmer and every soft flicker of the chandeliers ad infinitum. Anyone who enters this place loses all sense of time and space for a moment.
Between the gleaming columns, Buddha figures sit in silent dignity. Their gilded faces are reflected a thousand times in the glass surfaces, as if past, present and eternity were becoming visible simultaneously. The temple exudes tranquillity, even though it is full of splendour. No ray of light shines by chance, no reflection is without meaning. Everything feels like a silent conversation between heaven and earth.
At Wat Muang, spirituality and art merge into a single luminous space. Visitors speak more softly, footsteps become more cautious, and even thoughts seem to slow down. Whilst outside the heat of Thailand hangs over the temple courtyards, a different world unfolds within the Wihan Kaeo — cool, shimmering and almost weightless.
It is a place where the light is not only reflected, but also touches the soul.
